Sequoia Cabin Retreat

Chapel in the Pines is excited to be able to offer Sequoia Cabin Retreat year round. In Arnold you can enjoy activities such as hiking, visiting area lakes for water recreation, and all sorts of summer fun. During the warmer months, we are able to offer Sequoia Cabin Retreat at no cost to our guests.

Because Arnold sits at 4000 feet elevation, we experience the fullness of winter here. Winter storms will commonly bring in anywhere between a couple inches and a few feet of snow. You can enjoy winter activities such as snow shoeing, cross country skiing, and snow play around town or head further up Highway 4 to the snow park or ski resort. During the colder winter months, November through March, we are asking for a minimal fee of $25/night to offset the cost of heating the house and facilitating snow removal.

Yes, sign me up!  Start with the calendar and see what's available, HERE.

Our campus consists of the main sanctuary with separate office building and parking lot. Across Cedar Lane the church owns three houses. House 1 and 2 are used in various capacities, but House 3 stood idle. It was decided to offer this as a ministry outreach. Years of work and planning have finally paid off as we present this unique respite to those in ministry as a retreat.

Note: This house is not Handicap Accessible. The main entrance is at the top of a flight of stairs, and the main door is too narrow to accommodate a wheelchair.

Deposit: A refundable deposit of $250 is due at the time of Registration to cover loss or damage during your stay.

For the 2024 Season at Sequoia Cabin Retreat we will be booking in a roll-out fashion as follows:

  • Nov. 1-10, 2023 for Chapel in the Pines Missionaries and their families.
  • Nov. 11-20, 2023 for pastors, missionaries and denominational staff within the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC).
  • Nov. 21, 2023 for Ministry professionals serving in other Christian denominations outside of the ECC.

In the Area

Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Only 15 minutes up the highway is the jewel of the area where you can take an easy natural walk among the grove of giant sequoia redwoods. Some thousands of years old and hundreds of feet tall have been growing here since the time of Christ. (Big Trees State Park website)

White Pines Lake

Technically not in Arnold but in the neighboring community of White Pines, it is just a few short miles outside of Arnold. The lake is the perfect spot to relax, or play at the beach. Didn't bring a kayak or canoe? No problem. Just across the highway from Chapel is Sierra Nevada Adventure Company (SNAC) where you can rent or purchase all manner of sporting goods for any season.

Highway 4

What? That's right Highway 4 itself is an attraction. It is listed as a National Scenic Byway.  A drive up to the summit and beyond has many picturesque vistas. Make sure to take your camera. For more information, click here.
